The old saying goes, “You only get one chance to make a good first impression.” This applies perfectly to the role our ushers play here at St. Francis. When someone arrives for worship, the first people they usually encounter are the ushers and greeters with a warm smile, a friendly hello, and a heartfelt, “So glad to see you.”
Ushers and greeters are especially important for our visitors. The ushers have the opportunity to create that good first impression by being friendly, welcoming, and available to provide any information that the newcomer might request. It doesn’t take long for a visitor to decide St. Francis by the Lake is a good fit. A genuine welcome and a friendly word or two makes strangers feel like friends and may be the beginning of new relationships.
